Wisdom teeth contains stem cells that aid in repairing the heart, brain and bones, recent research says.

Yes, recent research backs this. A Jan 2025 study in Stem Cell Research & Therapy (Ibarretxe et al.) isolated dental pulp stem cells from wisdom teeth (third molars) and differentiated them into neuron-like cells that fire real electrical signals/action potentials—key for brain repair potential.

These mesenchymal stem cells also show osteogenic differentiation for bone/joint repair and paracrine effects aiding heart function in mouse models of failure.

Could lead to autologous regenerative therapies: banking extracted teeth for personalized treatments of neurodegeneration, fractures, or cardiac damage. Mostly lab/preclinical so far, with early trials emerging.
