Sean Mercer, who killed Rhys Jones in 2007, has reportedly been urged by his friends to sue the makers of ITV drama, Little Boy Blue, because it portrayed him as an evil person.

Mercer shot 11-year-old Jones in Croxteth, Liverpool and originally denied it, choosing to remain silent during his trial.
He was found guilty by a jury and was sentenced to life in prison. Afterwards, he claimed the shooting was an accident and he did not mean to do it. His gang members, James Yates, 28, and Dean Kelly, 25, were also jailed after supplying the firearm and helping to hide Mercer when he was on the run from cops after the killing.

The crime, which received media attention at the time, has now been made into an ITV drama series, Little Boy Blue. Actor Paddy Rowan portrays Mercer. Mercer, who is in Frankland Prison in County Durham and is being protected round-the-clock by officers, has reportedly complained that the television series is inaccurate. especially as he did not mean to shoot his victim.

A source said:
"He thinks the show has made him look like the most evil man in Britain when he isn’t. He says one of the characters on TV doesn’t exist in real life. His mates inside reckon he should make the most of it and sue. Some say they know lawyers itching to take the case."
