This is the "Oslo patient"—a 63-year-old Norwegian man who achieved long-term HIV remission (effectively a cure in these cases) after a stem cell transplant from his brother. The sibling carried the rare CCR5ฮ32/ฮ32 mutation that blocks HIV. The transplant treated his myelodysplastic syndrome (a blood cancer), and he's now HIV-free 4+ years later, off ART.
