The 2016 Federation Cup semi-final game between NPFL title-chasing FC Ifeanyi Ubah and Crown FC promises to be a cracker as the Anambra Warriors have declared ‘operation no mercy’ against the Ogbomosho-based team.
The match which holds at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna today is an opportunity for FC Ifeanyi Ubah to move one step towards making history in its first appearance in the Federation Cup competition.
The Anambra Warriors are favourites to pick a ticket to fly Nigeria’s flag in either the CAF Cham-pions League or CAF Confederation Cup next year. They are currently third on the NPFL table and have a final game away to MFM FC in Lagos on Sunday.
Their opponents, Crown FC have been dubbed the giant killer in the competition after they stopped some big teams including Enugu Rangers on their way to the last four.
But chairman of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Mr. Chukwuma Uba, says the Anambra Warriors are ready to prove that they are the real giant killers in this instance as Crown FC are just giants.
“The Anambra Warriors are barely two years in the Nigerian football league while Crown FC has been there for several years. I think the tag of the giant of the two teams fits them better. Our exploits with-in a short period in the league makes us the giant killers.
“We respect Crown FC for coming this far in the Federation Cup but they have arrived at their last bus stop because we are very ready for them,” he said.
The second semi-final of the men’s Federation Cup will hold at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan on Sunday, 9th October between Enyimba FC and Nasarawa United.
