The Gypsie King as he is fondly called by fans- Tyson Fury, the reigning WBA,
WBO, IBO, Ring magazine, and lineal heavyweight champion has tested
positive for cocaine according to reports, weeks after pulling out from
his heavyweight title defence with Klitschko citing mental issues.
Fury, was said to have been informed on Thursday
night that his A sample from a random urine test on 22 September had
tested positive for the substance benzoylecgonine, the central compound
found in cocaine.
The
Manchester born boxer who claims to be born again is set to lose his
titles won in 2015. The
presence of cocaine in his blood samples brings an all time low to
Fury's career and could even bring about litigations and lawsuits
against him and his camp.
Klitschko,
who was supposed to have fought him since, has been made to wait for
almost a year to regain his lost belts and with this new revelation
could fight someone else for the WBO, WBA and IBO world titles..
A whole host of partners in the rematch - including television stations, the Manchester Arena which had been booked for October 29
and the fans who had invested in non-refundable hotel bookings and
travel costs - may even consider seeking financial compensation from
Fury and his camp.
Bernd
Boente, the manager of Klitschko, has responded to the revelations: 'If
this is true, Fury is the most unworthy of all the heavyweight
champions.
'This
might explain a lot but for certain this is terrible for boxing. I have
to say that Fury must be the most disgraceful heavyweight champion of
all time.
'Don't forget this comes in a package which also includes his outrageous homophobic and anti-Semitic comments.
'The
wider issue for all of us in the sport is having him holding this
position while being caught this way. What kind of an example is he
setting to others in the sport and to youngsters all over the world by
something like this?
'We
have been involved with many outstanding holders of the most
prestigious title in world sport. Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Larry
Holmes, your own Lennox Lewis were wonderful champions and splendid
human beings. This is such a shame.'
A
day after he was suspended by the House for failing to appear before the
Ethics and Privileges committee over allegations of budget padding he
leveled against Speaker Dogara and others, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has
released a statement in which he demanded all the lawmakers in the house
to return the over N10 million monthly running cost money they have
fraudulently collected since they came into the chambers or he will
stand as a witness against them in coutrt.
In
a statement he shared on his Facebook page, Jibrin said he has sent a
letter to all the lawmakers asking them to return the money to the Clerk
of the House.
With
regards to the Presiding and Principal Officers, Jibrin says he has
given them 72 hours ultimatum to make public the total amount they have
received as running cost in their entire stay in the House and failure
of which he will proceed with necessary legal action to compel them to
make the total amount each of them have received public. According to
him, Nigeria is currently facing economic recession and so needs all of
such money. Read the statement below...
I
HAVE COMMENCED THE PROCESS OF EXPOSING THE RUNNING COST AND ALLOWANCES
OF MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND SYSTEMIC CORRUPTION THERE
IN WITH MY LETTER TODAY TO HON MEMBERS TO REFUND ANY MONEY STOLEN OR
ILLEGALLY TAKEN. READ LETTER BELLOW AND LIKE-SHARE-COMMENT IF YOU
SUPPORT A TOTAL WAR AGAINST CORRUPTION IN THE HOUSE
September 29, 2016
TO ALL HONOURABLE MEMBERS HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ABUJA
My dear Colleagues,
BURDEN OF PROOF OF EVIDENCE: RUNNING COST OF HONOURABLE MEMBERS OF THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
I
wish to draw your attention to the fact that since you suspended me
yesterday and the suggestion of the Ethics Committee report that my
allegations were generalized and without proof, I have come under
intense public scrutiny and pressure to prove that there exists systemic
corruption in the House. I have taken it as a responsibility to prove
to the public that the House is a den of systemic corruption. As
colleagues, I have bound with many of you and built a life long
friendship.
I
have some of you that I hold in high esteem. If you end up at the
receiving end of the actions I will be taking up in the next few days, I
want you to know there is nothing personal but commitment and fervent
desire to ensure that corruption is wiped out of the House and reforms
that will restore the battered image of the House and take back the
House to the Nigerian people is implemented.
Consequent
upon the above and before I proceed with the aggressive steps I intend
to take, I hereby DEMAND that if you have illegally taken or stolen any
money meant for the RUNNING COST OF YOUR OFFICES FOR YOUR ENTIRE STAY IN
THE HOUSE, YOU SHOULD RETURN THE MONEY WITHIN ONE WEEK
TO THE CLERK OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY AND FOR THE PURPOSE OF CLARITY, I
AM REFERRING TO ABOUT 10MILLION NAIRA YOU COLLECT FROM TAX PAYERS'
MONEY MONTHLY OR MORE IN THE PAST. THE CLERK WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH
OFFICIAL ACCOUNT DETAILS, FAILURE OF WHICH I WILL TAKE NECESSARY ACTION
TO ENSURE THAT YOU RETURN ANY MONEY STOLEN AND STAND WITNESS AGAINST YOU
IN CASE OF PROSECUTION.
I
have written to the Clerk of the National Assembly to stand by in
anticipation. In the face of the revenue challenges and biting hardship
the country is currently facing, there is no better time the country
needs such money than now.
In
the case of the Presiding and Principal Officers, in addition to my
demand in this letter which applies to them too, I have written them
yesterday and gave them 72 hours ULTIMATUM to make public the total
amount they have received as running cost in their entire stay in the
House, failure of which I will proceed with necessary legal action to
compel them to make the total amount each of them have received public.
There
are other issues of monumental corruption in the House that I will be
raising in the following weeks which we must all deal with, but first
lets get done with this one.
Thank you.
God bless.

A woman known as Lisa Manso has revealed that she ended her dream
wedding to her childhood sweetheart Michael after a psychic told her to,
despite spending over £6000 planning for the wedding.
According
to Lisa, she didn't catch Michael cheating prior to the wedding or find
out a nasty habit about him, just that she had to
obey the psychic despite how hard it was for her to do so at the time.
The
28-year-old said to Mirror UK: “When she told me I shouldn’t get
married my jaw dropped. I was stunned. I hadn’t said a word about the
wedding.
“But she said fate had other plans for
me – that my wedding was supposed to come later without all the frills.
She envisaged it as small and intimate not the big bash I’d planned.
“I could have laughed it off, probably most would have, but something told me to believe her.
“Although
it was really tough for me and Michael I’m now the happiest I’ve been
in a long time. It was definitely the right call.”
According
to Lisa it was hard at first to obey the words of a total stranger and
dump Michael who she had known since she was 13.
“He was a friend of the family, my first love. We were together for six months back then.
"Our families liked to go caravanning to Wales and Blackpool. It was a teenage love, very innocent.”
In December 2010 Michael, 34, proposed to Lisa.
Lisa
remembers: “We were in bed when he told me he wanted me to be with him
for ever. He said ‘I want to marry you’. I felt like I had been winded! I
said ‘Yes’. I was so happy.”
The bride-to-be quickly began planning. The date was set for September 2013.
“I wanted it to be a huge celebration.
“I
booked a five-star hotel then went dress shopping and picked a
beautiful white gown with a bow on the side and layers of silk and
chiffon.”
By the time they had finished
planning, they had spent £6,000 including £800 on the dress alone, but
despite the wedding plans Lisa said she felt something was missing in
her life and then she went to sought out a psychic.
She says: “It wasn’t that I didn’t want to marry Michael.'
“We’d
been arguing a bit. But I’d just put that down to wedding planning. It
just felt like there should be more to life and I suddenly felt the need
to see my future.”
Her friend recommended Yvonne Rae, a psychic she had used and Lisa arranged for a meeting.
“I didn’t tell anyone apart from my friend in case people thought I was mad!”
As Lisa knocked on the door of the psychic she took off her engagement ring so as not to give away hints about her life.
She recalls: “I hadn’t told her anything about me – that I was due to get married, nothing.
"I didn’t want to give her any hints.” When she sat in front of the tiny, elderly psychic she began to feel a bit fearful.
She remembers: “I was suddenly terrified of what she might say as she looked at my palm.
“She started off saying ‘I look into your eyes and you are destined for big things.
"All I can see is flashing cameras and you standing on red carpet’. I thought ‘Oh that’s so lovely’.
“But then she simply announced that the wedding wouldn’t go ahead. My jaw dropped! I was stunned.
“Mrs
Rae must have seen the shock on my face because she told me it wasn’t a
bad thing, that fate had other plans and that my real wedding, when it
happened, would be small and intimate.”
She admits: “I went home unsettled and tried to put the reading out of my mind but I couldn’t.”
The more Lisa thought about what the psychic said, the more she started having second thoughts about marrying Michael.
“Everything
was booked, the venue, the caterers. But I kind of just stopped talking
about the wedding as if it wasn’t happening. It was only a few weeks
away!
“Michael just put my silence down to wedding stress,” she explains. Two weeks later, Lisa became convinced she couldn’t go ahead.
“Michael was heartbroken. He told me I was ‘the one’ and begged me to reconsider.
“So in the end we agreed to push the wedding back to the following Valentine’s Day. It gave me some breathing space.”
She says: “I explained things weren’t working out between us.
“I
wasn’t happy and a wedding wasn’t going to fix us. Michael was
devastated but understood, although I didn’t mention the psychic.
“It
was the right decision. Michael is a really great bloke, just not the
one for me.” Since she made her decision Lisa hasn’t looked back.
She even trashed her treasured wedding dress on a modelling shoot last year as her career developed.
She
laughs: “It was gathering dust in my wardrobe so I told the
photographer I could bring it along to the shoot and he thought it was a
good idea.
Lisa is now with another man, Paul Lane, 50, a London film director.
This
is the happiest I’ve been in a long time and I really believe that he
might be the man Mrs Rae saw me settling down with. But we’ll just have
to wait and see.
U.S Republican party presidential candidate has blasted the ex-Miss
Universe Alicia Machado who claimed he called her Miss piggy and Miss
Housekeeping in 1996 because she had gained weight after winning the
pageant and because of her Latina roots.
Trump called her his 'worst' Miss Universe winner, and also suggested
Hillary Clinton helped the Venezuelan ex-model beauty get into the U.S.
so she can get back at him this election period.
“Wow, Crooked Hillary was duped and used by my worst Miss U. Hillary
floated her as an "angel" without checking her past, which is terrible!”
Trump tweeted.
Did Crooked Hillary help disgusting (check out sex tape and past) Alicia
M become a U.S. citizen so she could use her in the debate?”
Trump's tweets comes days after allegations resurfaced that the 1996
Miss Universe Alicia Machado was part of an attempted murder plot.
In 1998, two years after her crowning and the weight-gain, a
then-21-year-old Machado was charged with driving the getaway car after
her boyfriend tried to kill his brother in law.
Trump also alleged she starred in her own sex tape
In a new statement he shared this afternoon, sacked House of
Representatives Appropriation committee chairman, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has
alleged that his office which was sealed yesterday by some National
Assembly officers, was to enable the Speaker Yakubu Dogara, get hold of
some implicating documents and then destroy them. Read his new
statement below...
As you may all be aware, the Sergeant-At-Arm of the National Assembly
stormed and sealed my Office on the instruction of Speaker Dogara
yesterday. The office was purportedly sealed as a consequence of
my illegal suspension but the truth was to enable the Speaker lay hands
and destroy evidence
The media witnessed the volumes of 2016 budget documents and 53 files
that were carted away from my office and handed to Speaker Dogara. I
have exercise extreme caution and refused to touch any document in my
office since the crisis started. I have raised alarm that Dogara wants
to destroy evidence but the good news is that we have more than enough
already in case of prosecution.
The whole country watched for 2 months as Speaker Dogara was accorded
all the time he needed to lobby around, clear his desk and now destroy
evidence. Nigerians must all rise up and demand that Speaker Yakubu
Dogara produce all the 2016 budget documents and 53 files carted away
from my office.
I was not even allowed to take away my personal belongings. Hon Jibrin
must be dealt with and disgraced by all mean. Speaker Dogara is playing
God. I have become vulnerable in the face of frequent threats to my life
and some of the security personnels attached to me were suddenly
withdrew
Here we are talking about the fight against corruption. Today, Iam being
humiliated and my crime is simply exposing corruption in high places.
Who will want to take such risk in future? I have said repeatedly that
this episode is a defining moment for the fight against corruption in
Nigeria
I wish to plead to the general public that we should concentrate on the
grievous allegations I have raised rather than unfairly attacking me the
messenger. The fact that Iam raising corruption allegations does not
confer on me any immunity from being investigated if allegations are
raised against me
I have not stopped any of the 359 members of the House from signing
corruption petition against me but non has done so because there is
nothing! Only faceless and discredited individuals and groups are used
to divert attention by spreading allegations that all turned out false!
President Buhari says he will not stop blaming PDP for the current state
of the nation. Speaking at the launch of a pictorial book entitled
‘Buhari a new beginning’ by his personal photographer, Bayo Omoboriowo
in the state house Abuja, President Buhari said
“I’m going to bore you with what we met. I know I’m being accused in the
papers of passing the buck, but passing the buck is sometimes
absolutely necessary, to remind people who take things for granted. The youth must watch our elite, the condition we
found ourselves. It is unpatriotic for anybody to pretend that
economically we don’t have a problem. We have gone into the farms. I
congratulate some of the governors and by the grace of God by the end of
this government we will be exporting rice and grains. So all the money
alleged to have been used to import will be available to sustain
development. I have bored you with this long explanation because there
are things that could be hidden from you by those that have mismanaged
the country in the last 16, 17 years. I assure you that we will set the
ball rolling in terms of security, industrialisation, manufacturing and
food security. I said it years ago and I still mean it, we have no other
country than Nigeria, we will stay here and salvage it together”he said
The Senate has kicked against the Federal Government’s move to impose Communications Service Tax on Nigerians.
The proposed tax contained in an Executive Bill before the Senate
Committee on Communications, seeks to make provisions for certain
compulsory payments from communications consumers in the country.
In his lead debate, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Communications,
Senator Gilbert Nnaji, expressed apprehension over the bill during the
2016 Budget’s defence meeting with the Nigerian Communications
Commission (NCC) and the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF).
The lawmaker noted with concern, the economic implications of the tax,
particularly on the welfare of Nigeria’s low income earners.
Nnaji said: “There has been strident outcry by consumer rights groups
and industry stakeholders against the Communications Service Tax Bill
(CST) 2015 currently before the National Assembly.
“It is argued that the bill will limit access to communication as it
will affect the lower income consumers, forcing them to abandon or
reduce subscription to certain services.
“This committee is yet to be availed with the contents of this bill but
it is important to state unequivocally here that, as the elected
representatives of the Nigerian people, while we recognise the current
administration’s efforts to widen its revenue base, conscious efforts
must be made to ensure that the socio-economic wellbeing of the
citizenry remain sacrosanct.
“We assure Nigerians that this Committee will engage in wide
consultations with all concerned stakeholders in considering this Bill
if it is referred to the Committee,” he said.
He urged industry players to live above board in their efforts to improve the economy.
He stated the position of his committee on some salient issues trending in the telecommunications industry in the country.
According to him, “These are issues bordering on regulatory and
operational environment in the sector such as the statutory
independence of the industry regulator and the obligations demanded
from industry operators to observe and respect regulatory directives.”
From the budget, the total revenue was estimated at N70, 672,492, 000,
while total recurrent expenditure amounted to N22, 211,186, 000, while
total capital expenditure and total special projects respectively stood
at N15, 651,475, 000 and N6, 557,708,000.
Provisions for transfers to both USPF stood at N8, 584, 000, 000 while
the Federal Government would be entitled to N17, 668,123, 000
In their separate responses, the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Prof.
Umar Danbatta and the Executive Secretary of USPF, Mr. Ayuba Shuaibu,
thanked the committee for its legislative supports.
President Muhammadu Buhari says his administration has plans to
introduce policies that will encourage higher patronage of
Made-in-Nigeria products.
He said this on Thursday at the 44th Annual General Meeting of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) in Abuja.
With the theme, ‘Diversifying the Nigerian Economy: The Role of Government in Manufacturing’,
the President noted that the manufacturing sector was well positioned
to be a major driver of Nigeria’s economic growth because of the
nation’s immense natural resources and the entrepreneurial spirit of
Nigerians.
“We are working on improving the patronage of locally-made goods,
bridging the gap between skills required by industry and those provided
by our educational institutions and access to finance for our Small and
Medium-Scale Enterprises (SMEs).
“We recognise that MAN and the other Organised Private Sector (OPS)
groups are our key stakeholders in this journey and we will continue our
engagement with you”, the President said.
He explained that his government’s strategic plan to boost
manufacturing activities in the country was supported by the Nigeria
Industrial Revolution Plan (NIRP) and the National Enterprises
Development Programme (NEDEP).
According to him, “Government is therefore focused on implementing
necessary policies and strategies aimed at unleashing the full
potentials of manufacturing in Nigeria.
“A strong manufacturing sector will create more jobs and wealth for our
people. It will usher in sustainable economic prosperity because we
will produce what we consume as a nation and generate foreign exchange
by exporting any surplus.”
He further assured his audience that government would partner with MAN
in the task of charting a brighter future for the nation.
At the event, Chairman of Dangote Group of Companies, Aliko Dangote,
lamented the decline in the contribution of the manufacturing sector to
the country’s economy.
He told the gathering that recent figures indicate that the
manufacturing sector contracted by -2.9 per cent in 2015 as against
growth rates of 21.8 per cent and 14.7 per cent in 2013 and 2014,
respectively.
“The aggregate manufacturing jobs created in 2014 and 2015 were 20,535
jobs as against 53,340 jobs created in the sector in 2013 alone.
“These figures merely confirm what we already knew which is that the
manufacturing sector in Nigeria is currently under very serious
strain”, he disclosed.
He explained that it has now become very evident for the country to
urgently develop other income streams by diversifying its economy since
it can no longer depend solely on crude oil exports to fund its
economy.
Three eminent Nigerians have affirmed that the development challenges
facing the South East in particular, and the nation in general, stemmed
from bad leadership.
The prominent Nigerians, who bared their minds yesterday at a book
launch, include the Chairman of Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited,
Dr Ifeanyi Ubah, former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN),
Prof. Chukwuma Soludo and revered Catholic Priest, Bishop Mathew Hassan
Kukah.
They spoke at the public presentation of a book titled: “The Politics
of Biafra and the Future of Nigeria” at the Musa Yar’dua Centre, Abuja.
The book was written by former House of Representatives member, Hon. Chudi Offodile.
Dr Ubah and Soludo, who focused on issues affecting the Igbo, said
that bad leadership at both the federal and regional levels was
responsible for the distorted development of the Igbo nation.
In his brief remark at the event, Dr. Ubah, who is also the Publisher
of The AUTHORITY newspapers, said: “The underdevelopment of the
South-East is traceable to the bad leadership that has kept the country
on its knees. The underdevelopment in the South-East is borne out of bad
leadership. The Igbo are disadvantaged.”
Prof Soludo, who was the reviewer of the book, supported the growing
demand for the restructuring of Nigeria. he stressed that the country
should start considering a new constitution.
On the poor state of infrastructure in the South East, Soludo
lamented that the elite from the region, who served at the federal
level, have failed to do anything positive to change the trend.
His words: “In the last administration, for instance, we had the
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the Minister of Finance
and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, the Deputy Senate President,
this, that and so on. Almost all the financial institutions in the
country were headed by people from the South East and yet there is no
motorable federal highway in Igboland.
“This thing is an elite game as far as I am concerned. The issue of who and whatever will not take us anywhere.”
On restructuring, Soludu sad that “if we have a truly federal, fairer,
restructured Nigeria, the agitation for Biafra would wind up”.
He noted that Nigeria’s first President, the late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe
and the late Biafran leader, Chief Odumegwu-Ojukwu, would have wanted
an equitable federal system for Nigeria than a Biafran state.
Soludo continued: “Despite the rupture that existed between Zik and
Ojukwu, if the two men were alive today, they would probably align more
with a reformed federalist Nigeria. And why I said this is that Ojukwu
died a federalist. Because after the war, Ojukwu, when he came back to
Nigeria, joined the defunct NPN (National Party of Nigeria) and urged
the Igbo to go back to be reintegrated into Nigeria. And even at that,
he later joined the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) and became its
national leader. And APGA is a national party which, among other
things, agitates for true federalism. And he contested as a
presidential candidate of APGA seeking to be president of Nigeria. So,
when you put all together, Ojukwu, if alive, would rather seek for a
true federal, fairer Nigeria.”
Soludo stated that Nigeria, at this time, requires a new constitution,
which will contain inputs from Nigerians on their desire to strike a
balanced federation.
He described Biafra as a metaphor for agitation by those he described
as the oppressed people of the South East, stating that a balanced
federation being canvased by different ethnic groups in the country
would provide an answer to the struggle.
He said the administration of President Buhari should never overlook
the import of agitation for Biafra by IPOB, contending that the more
the government attempts to down play it, the more it will gain
attention.
Soludo alluded to the arrest and continued detention of Kanu by the
Federal Government as an error, which according to him, has continued to
give prominence to the struggle for Biafra by IPOB
He said the government has invariably made Kanu a hero of the Biafran
struggle, which, he noted, is already being mainstreamed both locally
and internationally
The former CBN Governor, however, canvassed for the release of Kanu, as
according to him, attempts by the government to keep him in detention,
will not serve the government any good.
He said already the detained Kanu has become a phenomenon in Igboland
today such that his issue vis-avis the Biafran struggle would be used
as a major point of campaign in the South East in 2019.
He said: “I agree that we need a new constitution negotiated by the
people of Nigeria. My thesis is that, if this is the only achievement
of President Muhammadu Buhari, it would have been greatest statesman
ever like Abraham Lincoln but we need to get started.”
“On the new Biafranism; let me say that wittingly or unwittingly
Nigeria has brought the Biafran issue from the periphery into the
mainstream discussions. Nnamdi Kanu threw a bait and Nigeria took it.
Today, it is the most popular political phrase and he will end up as a
hero or a matyr but to his credit he has forced Nigeria and the world
to discuss Biafra.
“I believe that keeping him there doesn’t do Nigeria any good. I
believe this young man should be released and released by yesterday. I
will not be surprised if he becomes a subject of the next political
campaign.”
On appointments, Soludo said that: “It is not just the South East or
the Igbo that complain. Nigeria has not worked. And my thesis is that
even if any government including this one have all the political
appointments from one village, the life of the average person in that
village will not change.
“Take for instance the North, if you calculate the number of years they
have been in power, but essentially, poverty is still predominately a
northern phenomenon. So that you control this and a few billionaires
are made here and there, and so on, means absolute nothing. The
ordinary man in Nigeria has not benefited and the situation is getting
worse by the current system in the country”.
In his address, Bishop Kukah charged the Igbo to evolve a means
whereby they will consolidate on their comparative advantage of “power
without office.”
Elaborating on the concept of “power without office”, Kukah urged the
Igbo to consider their strategic power position though without office
and leverage on its many advantages.
Speaking on state creation, he said, “We can create new states but the
moment you create a new state, the majority becomes the minority and
minority becomes a majority and the contestation is renewed and the
issues are the same namely; a tiny circle of elite that simply want to
serve nobody but themselves. And I think for me that is where the issues
are.”
The book launch was attended by prominent Igbo leaders including
former Vice President, Dr. Alex Ekweme, former Senate President, Chief
Ken Nnamani, former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Emeka
Ihedioha and former governor of Abia State, Dr Orji Uzor Kalu.
Others were former Minister of Health, Professor ABC Nwosu, former
Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, a governorship aspirant in Anambra
State, Senator Uche Ekwunife and former Speaker of the House of
Representatives, Umar Ghali Na’Abba.
Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah has
denied allegations leveled against him by Senator Dino Melaye that he
colluded with MTN to illegally transfer $13.92illion from Nigeria from
2006 to 2016. Dino Melaye had in a motion on the floor of the Senate
alleged that MTN illegally transferred $13.9 billion out of Nigeria with
the help of the minister who he claimed is the owner of CELTELCOM ltd.
In a statement signed by the Director Press, Federal Ministry of
Industry, Trade and Investment Greyne Anosike, Enelamah denied ownership
and said neither was he ever a shareholder of Celtelecom ltd. The
statement reads
“Our attention has been drawn to a statement credited to a serving
Nigerian Senator on the floor of the Senate on Tuesday September 27,
2016, making a number of allegations against the Minister of Industry,
Trade and Investment, Dr. Okechukwu Enelamah regarding improper
remittance of funds out of Nigeria. We are compelled to make clear the
following: Dr. Enelamah served as the CEO of Capital Alliance Nigeria
Limited (CANL) between 1998 and 2015. CANL is a wholly owned subsidiary
of African Capital Alliance (“ACA”), an Africa focused private equity
firm with investments in carefully selected companies within and outside
Nigeria, including MTN Nigeria. A fund managed by ACA, alongside other
minority shareholders, invested in MTN Nigeria through Celtelecom. Dr
Enelamah was never the “owner” of Celtelecom as alleged by the Senator;
neither was he ever a Celtelecom shareholder. Instead he was a director
of the company, representing the ACA managed fund. Investors do not have
responsibility for remittance of proceeds from the company they invest
in. Therefore, at no time was Dr. Enelamah in a position to transfer
funds out of Nigeria on behalf of MTN Nigeria, and at no time did Dr.
Enelamah transfer any funds out of Nigeria on behalf of MTN Nigeria.
Celtelecom’s investment in MTN Nigeria “As it relates to Celtelecom’s
investment in MTN Nigeria, it is important to note that the entire
process for applying for and using CCIs was done by MTN Nigeria. Dr
Enelamah resigned all his board positions, including from ACA and
Celtelecom, consequent to his appointment as a Minister of the Federal
Republic of Nigeria. While Dr. Enelamah welcomes any investigations the
Senate may decide to carry out on the activities of these companies, it
should be noted that all the allegations as made by the Senator are
without merit and baseless'.
A new baby shower is being planned for Blac Chyna & Rob
Kardashian, and it will be hosted by Chyna’s best friend, Sylvia
Karapetian. According to Us Weekly, there will be approximately 60 guests at the baby shower on October 2nd
in Woodland Hills, California, including friends of both Chyna,
Kardashian, and that Chyna’s family will be flying in to celebrate.
However, Rob’s famous sisters: Kylie and Kendall Jenner,
Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian will reportedly not be attending.
This is probably in reaction to Rob lashing out against his sister Kylie
on Twitter.
