"I would not wish this on my worst enemies!" YouTubers say after trying to survive on the Victoria's Secret models' strict pre-show diet

Thursday, 4 May 2017

Ever wondered what Victoria Secret models do to stay slim? Well, the answer might leave you utterly miserable as it's left two YouTubers who chose to try it. Candace Lowry and Michelle Khare decided to try out the grueling diet and they documented the experience.
Candace and Michelle came together to create a video where they spent only four days eating like the famous models. In spite of the warning from a dietician who said
"I wouldn't recommend this diet to anyone", the women went ahead and by the time they were done, they branded the experience  "not fun, smart, safe, any of the above."
Both women first started out with the two "normal" days of eating for the models, then the last two days they did the grueling pre-show liquid. For the first 'regular diet' day, the ladies started off with a breakfast of oatmeal, egg whites, orange slices and yogurt in little portions. Dinner was a meal of broccoli, quinoa and what looks to be chicken breast, also in little portions. Mind you, they had to combine this diet with rigorous exercising. By the second day, Michelle was already complaining of feeling very tired after a day of training, and by the third day, she was struggling against a terrible mood brought on by starving herself on the liquid diet.

The scariest part of the diet is the pre-show liquid diet which all the models are expected to stick to starting nine days before the show. This diet was made public by VS model, Adriana Lima, in an interview back in 2011. During those nine days, Adriana claimed that she would drink only protein shakes made with powdered egg and a gallon of water, and then two days before showtime she would cut back on the gallon of water per day, and then in the 12 hours leading up to the show would consume nothing at all, not even water.

By the time both ladies were done with the experimental diet, they concluded that it was not something they would wish on their worst enemy. They agreed that the days of  'normal' diet were actually examples of a good base of a healthy diet. However, they advised against the liquid diet.

"This diet is terrible and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemies," Michelle said, adding that the diet caused her to have trouble sleeping and was not sustainable for nine full days.

"It's not a healthy way to lose weight and it's strange to me because... no one as a regular person would go through this and these models are supposed to represent the people buying the clothes," she said.

Presidency plans to arrest Ike Ekweremadu, ex-PDP governors- PDP senators allege

Wednesday, 3 May 2017

The PDP caucus of the senate today addresed a press conference where they alleged that there are plans by the presidency to arrest deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremdu and some former PDP governors.

At a briefing with Senate Correspondents, Spokesman of the Caucus, Senator Enyinanya Abaribe read a statement saying intelligence gathered by them suggest that there are plans by the presidency to use security agents to plant arms and ammunitions and other inriminating materials in the homes of Ike Ekweremadu and some former PDP governors.

The senators condemned the alleged plans, saying Nigeria is not prepared to head back to the days of late maximum ruler, General Sani Abacha. The PDP Senators in the same vein, condemned the arrest of former governors Sule Lamido of Jigawa state and Babangida Aliyu of Niger State for corruption charges. The senators claim the allegations are false and were cooked up by the government. They promised a political showdown if the intercepted intelligence document is implemented by security agencies controlled by the presidency officials. Photo credit: Sumner Shagari Sambo

Alleged IDP fraud: Senate insists suspended SGF Babachir Lawal must be prosecuted

Wednesday, 3 May 2017

The senate today again called for the prosecution of suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, for allegedly abusing his office as the chairman of the Presidential Initiative of the North East PINE.

Submitting its final report before the house, Chairman of the Senate Ad-Hoc Cttee on Mounting Humanitarian Crisis in the North East, Shehu Sani, told the senate that investigations carried out by the committee showed that PINE flagrantly flouted Procurement Laws in Contract Awards.
Sani stated that PINE contributed N50Million to two different Humanitarian Conferences and less than N2Million to IDPs themselves.

Speaking further, Sani said that a lot of PINE Contracts were awarded to friends and cronies of people in Government. He said the committee confirmed from BVN records at the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN that suspended SGF Babachir Lawal is still signatory to one of the companies that was awarded a N200 million contract to clear invasive grasses.

Senator Na'Allah who was also a member of the committee, disclosed that N20 million was paid as consultancy fee for a N200 million contract.

Last December, the senate called for the resignation and prosecution of Babachir after he was indicted in the North East Humanitarian crisis reprort.  Presidnet Buhari had written to the senate saying he could not grant their request to sack and prosecute Babachir because he was not given fair hearing by the committee. Even with three invitations afterwards, Babachir has failed to appear before the committee to answer questions surrounding his alleged involvement in corruption.

On April 19th, President Buhari ordered his suspension and asked a threee man panel led by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, to investigate the corruption allegations against Babachir. Osinbajo's panel is expected to deliver its report today May 3rd.

Michelle Obama takes a swipe at Trump for ending her girls' education program

Wednesday, 3 May 2017

Michelle Obama just knows how to be classy in all she does, even when it involves calling someone out. The former first lady has shared a photo indirectly letting Trump know that there's no stopping what she has started, even if he succeeds in doing it on an administrative level.

Yesterday, CNN obtained an internal document which revealed that President Donald Trump will discontinue a signature girls' education initiative championed by Michelle Obama when she was the First lady of the United States. The initiative, called "Let Girls Learn" was started by Michelle and Barack Obama in 2015 to facilitate educational opportunities for young girls in developing countries. Hours after CNN reported on the change by the Obama administration, the White House backtracked and said the program had not changed.
Minutes ago, Michelle shared a photo of her with some young girls and her caption looks like it was directed at the Trump administration, almost as though she were saying to them that come what may, her cause for girl child education will continue.

"Excited by the potential of the Obama Pres. Center. Barack & I will continue to champion the issues close to our hearts, including girls ed." she wrote.

'Splitting from Angelina was like death, I blame myself' Brad Pitt talks losing the actress, calls himself an emotional retard

Wednesday, 3 May 2017

Actor Brad Pitt became quite reclusive following his separation from Angelina Jolie, but he recently came out of his shell for an interview with US GQ Style. He revealed quite a lot during the interview, which is his first since the couple announced their separation.

The former sexiest man alive revealed that he drank so much and became a professional at it to the extent that it damaged his relationship and ripped his family apart.

He, therefore, concluded that the split was "self-inflicted". According to him, he could drink a "Russian under the table with his own Vodka". Speaking of his addiction to alcohol, the father-of-six said:

"I was a professional. I was good. I was boozing too much. It’s just become a problem. And I’m really happy it’s been half a year now, which is bittersweet, but I’ve got my feelings in my fingertips again."

He added: "I mean, we have a winery. I enjoy wine very, very much, but I just ran it to the ground. I had to step away for a minute. But me, personally, I can’t remember a day since I got out of college when I wasn’t boozing or had a spliff, or something. I mean I stopped everything except boozing when I started my family. But even this last year, you know - things I wasn’t dealing with."

Pitt has now stopped drinking completely and is in therapy, which he said he loves. He disclosed that he had to go through two therapists to get the right one. In place of alcohol, he now drinks only Cranberry juice and fizzy water. In addition, the Mr. and Mrs. Smith star admitted that he spent too much time away from his children working on films and because of how busy he got, he failed to be attentive to them, but he intends to do better henceforth.

He said: "I say that as someone who's let the work take me away. Kids are so delicate. They absorb everything. They need to have their hand held and things explained. They need to be listened to. When I get in that busy work mode, I'm not hearing. I want to be better at that. It's hit me smack in the face with our divorce: I gotta be more. I gotta be more for them. I have to show them."

Speaking of his movie career in the past nine months since his marriage ended, Brad told the magazine that films no longer provide the satisfaction it held for him before and it now takes only little of his time and focus. He even went as far as wishing he could have a name change.

"I don't really think of myself much as an actor anymore. It takes up so little of my year and my focus. Film feels like a cheap pass for me, as a way to get at those hard feelings. It doesn't work anymore, especially being a dad... I wish I could just change my name."

Brad, who graced the cover of the popular men magazine, said that he was devastated after he and Jolie split and returning to his home in Beverly Hills was so tough, he needed to get away. He ended up sleeping on a friend's floor for six weeks while adapting to his new life without Jolie.

"It was too sad to be here at first, so I went and stayed on a friend's floor, a little bungalow in Santa Monica. I crashed over here a little bit, my friend (David) Fincher lives right here. He's always going to have an open door for me, and I was doing a lot of stuff on the Westside, so I stayed at my friend's house on the floor for a month and a half."

Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt in September 2016 following an alleged altercation on a private jet between the actor and their 15-year-old son, Maddox. The plane incident led to Pitt getting investigated by the FBI following an anonymous tip-off. It was later closed with no charges but he faced a series of obstacles from Child Services as he tried to regain access to his six children. He and Jolie are now working out their divorce privately, through the help of group counseling as a family.

"I was really on my back and chained to a system when Child Services was called. After that, we've been able to work together to sort this out. We're both doing our best. I heard one lawyer say, 'No one wins in court - it's just a matter of who gets hurt worse.' And it seems to be true," the 53-year-old said.

"You spend a year just focused on building a case to prove your point and why you're right and why they're wrong, and it's just an investment in vitriolic hatred. I just refuse. And fortunately, my partner in this agrees. It's just very, very jarring for the kids, to suddenly have their family ripped apart."

Brad sounded really mature during the interview, admitting the part he played in the breakdown of his marriage, and this maturity could be attributed to the therapy he's been getting. He admitted that he hit the lottery with Jolie yet wasted his time chasing after meaningless things and he promised to make efforts to do better.

"For me this period has really been about looking at my weaknesses and failures and owning my side of the street. I'm an a**hole when it comes to this need for justice. I don't know where it comes from, this hollow quest for justice for some perceived slight. I can drill on that for days and years.  It's done me no good whatsoever. It's such a silly idea, the idea that the world is fair. And this is coming from a guy who hit the lottery, I'm well aware of that. I hit the lottery, and I still would waste my time on those hollow pursuits."

Things seem to be improving between Pitt and his family and it was reported that his kids - all six of them - spent the weekend with him at his Los Feliz home in Los Angeles for the first time in seven months. Last month, a source also told ET that Brad had been speaking directly to his estranged wife about doing what's best for their children.

Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau 'injured in air strike'

Wednesday, 3 May 2017

Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, has been injured and one of his deputies killed in an air strike in Balla village inside Borno state last friday.According to AFP, two Nigerian Air Force jets had bombarded an area in the village where the sect members had gathered to pray.
"Shekau was wounded in the bombings and is believed to be receiving treatment near the Nigerian border with Cameroon around Kolofata. His deputy, Abba Mustapha, alias Malam Abba, was killed in the attack along with another key lieutenant, Abubakar Gashua, alias Abu Aisha," a military source said
A member of the state Civilian Joint Taskfoce, Baba Kolo, also confirmed that Shekau was injured in the airstrike. "Shekau was injured and a number of commanders were killed. Among them is his deputy called Malam Abba. They suffered heavy casualties because the bombings targeted a large gathering of his followers attending Friday prayers."

The Nigerian Military is yet to confirm this new development. However a senior military officer in Maiduguri confirmed the air force bombed Boko Haram positions "in the Damboa area on Friday where they hit the targets with precision". "We got intel (intelligence) that the terrorists were gathering at the location and we acted on the report," he added, requesting anonymity as he was not authorised to speak about the operation.

He said he was unable to comment on Shekau but the source with contacts in Boko Haram said Mustapha was preaching when the first jet bombed the mosque at about 1:00 pm. Moments later a second jet targeted worshippers as they fled.

"Shekau was just leaving a house nearby for the mosque when the first jet struck. He was injured in the second strike. They spent the rest of Friday and the whole of Saturday burying the dead" he said.

Father and his step-son take turns to rape his 12-year-old daughter while her step-mother holds her legs open

Wednesday, 3 May 2017

A 12-year-old has recounted a very shocking tale of how she was constantly sexually abused by her father and his mistress' son. What's even more startling about her revelation is the fact that the mistress was aware of the abuse and even played a part.

The girl's ordeal began in May 2016 when her father took her away from the home in Isheri where she lived with both of her parents and got her resettled in the home where her father's mistress lived with her son in Ilogbo area of Lagos. The father did all this without the knowledge of his wife, the girl's mother. During her stay there. she was made to quit school and begin selling oil bean seed (ugba) with her father's mistress at the Alaba International Market during the day and returning to the house in Ilogbo at night. It was on one of those nights that her father's mistress' son raped her in the presence of her father and his mother. She contracted several sexually transmitted diseases during the period.

Narrating the incident, the victim, whose name will not be given for the purpose of privacy, said:
"One of my father’s mistress’ son, Kenneth, crept to where I slept on the floor one night and started touching my private parts. I woke up and rushed to inform my father, who was sleeping on the bed with his mistress. But he drove me back, saying I should allow him do whatever he wanted to do with me. My father came to where I was sleeping and, with the assistance of his mistress, parted my legs and instructed his stepson to have sex with me," Vanguard reports her saying.

"The next day, after everyone had gone out, my father called me inside, locked the door and had sex with me. He warned me not to tell anyone about what happened, threatening to kill me if I did. Since then, my father and his stepson had taken turns to rape me. At times, when I went to sell ugba at Alaba, his stepson would take me to an uncompleted building, where he would place some cartoons on the ground and rape me."
Meanwhile, back at home, her mother was already looking for her and even involved the police but the father claimed not to be aware of her whereabout. 7 months later, after the police and certain relatives intervened, he brought his daughter back home to his wife in December 2016.

"I had gone to the market to buy foodstuff one day,  only to return and discovered that my daughter was missing. When my husband came back, I asked him about her whereabouts, he denied knowing where she was, saying I should look for her. Even when the matter of our missing child was reported to the police, he denied knowing where she was until December, when he said he took her to learn a trade at a relative’s. It took the intervention of the police and some relatives before he brought her back last December."
When the victim eventually returned home, her mother noticed something unusual in the way she walked so she inquired from her what had happened while she was away. The girl refused to open up but after her mother involved her teacher who takes her extramural classes, she revealed to them that she had been raped by her dad and his mistress' son. The victim's mother said this will not be the first time such will happen. According to her, she caught her husband with his manhood inside her daughter's mouth when she was only 9-months-old. When she was six years old there was a repeat of the sexual abuse. She said she confronted her husband after her daughter opened up to her but he mercilessly and drove her and her daughter away. Since then, they've been living with a relative.
Following the revelation, the victim's father, a commercial bus driver whose name was given simply as Adimawu, was reported to the police. He was arrested last week Wednesday and during interrogation, he denied the allegations of sexual abuse and said that he took his daughter away from home to ensure her safety because his wife had a mental problem. He told the policemen at the Human Right Desk, Ikotun Police Division, that he never assaulted his daughter sexually. His wife disputed the mental illness claims and said she was simply suffering emotional and psychological trauma after her daughter went missing. She alleged that her husband's action was a ploy to chase her and her daughter away from the home they both built so that he could move his mistress and her son in.

Police sources hinted that the suspect earlier admitted that his stepson raped his daughter but later denied it. It was also disclosed that the case will be transferred to the command headquarters, Ikeja. Sir Barth Ozoana, who reported the sexual abuse to the police, will serve as the lawyer for the victim. He said he would assist his client and mother legally until justice prevailed.

I was sexually abused as a child- celebrity photographer, TY Bello reveals

Tuesday, 2 May 2017

Celebrity photographer and singer, TY Bello was a guest on supertalented director, Kemi Adetiba's series, King Women. In the episode in which she was interviewed, TY Bello revealed she was sexually abused when she was a child and how finding salvation in Jesus Christ helped her feel better.
“I was sexually abused as a child and because of this, I felt like there was something ugly about me that made me encounter this. This was not the abuser’s fault, this was me.
I used to see other girls as flowers and I saw myself as dirty cement, hard and ugly. I never felt beautiful, I never did. Everything was wrong with me. My brows were puffy and I was hairy and it was a problem. I always attributed everything that was about me to be the reason why someone took advantage of me. I thought there was something wrong with me because if the others girls were like me, perhaps they would be dirty like me but they were flowers, they are pretty and beautiful. Nobody does that to a beautiful girl. When a friend told me about salvation, she told me old things would be passed away and all things will become new. It was as if God would wash away that cement, that stench that caused that thing to happen to me as a child. Salvation would take that away and me too I can feel like a girl. When I was growing up, I didn't feel like a girl, I felt like an impostor. The girls were innocent so I always had to behave like I was innocent and I would become a girl because I didn’t feel like a girl. So imagine my shocked when I grew up and found out that one out of every three or four girls that were in my school had been through the same thing and I could tell them the same thing… that old thing can pass away. It was a relief to find that I was not the only one and a shock that nobody talks about it. That’s why salvation worked, I had a daddy and I was going to be a flower.”

Indian baby is born with additional head attached to its stomach

Tuesday, 2 May 2017

Having twin babies is always a thing of joy, but there are great risks associated with it, one of them being having conjoined twins or parasitic twins and that was the case of an unnamed 21-year-old woman who recently gave birth to a baby girl with an extra head sticking out of her stomach.

The mother had come to the Ram Snehi Hospital, in Jahazpur, complaining of pain during her pregnancy. She was instantly referred for a sonography scan and an ultrasound and they were told that she was carrying twins, but they did not discover that the other twin was parasitic, until after the birth.

Parasitic twins is a type of conjoined twins where one of the twins ceases development during gestation and becomes wholly dependent on some bodily functions of the complete foetus. The incompletely formed twin is the parasitic one because it is only partially formed and is not functional. Cases of parasitic twins are rare and believed to account for just one per one million live births, according to medical literature.

By the time the baby was born, it was discovered that she had an extra head sticking of of her side and a third hand. The head had no ear or eyes, yet it was feeding off of the healthy girl's blood supply and depriving her of nutrients. Luckily for the mother of the baby and her 24-year-old farmer husband, Indian doctors were able to remove the appendage of her parasitic twin during a complicated four-hour surgery at JK Lone Hospital, in Jaipur.

Dr Vijiyeta Garg, a gynaecologist who looked after the woman, assured the family that both mother and child could be saved though the husband pleaded that the mother was the priority. The operation was conducted on April 26th and the couple's first child is now recovering and will be discharged later this week.

Speaking on the peculiarity of the child's case, Dr Pravin Marthur, of the hospital's paediatric unit, said:
"This is one of the rarest cases of parasitic twin. The parents told us the mother had undergone sonography and other tests but were not told about carrying an underdeveloped twin. They were shattered when they saw the baby. We had to convince them to give us a nod for the surgery to save their daughter's life. After immediate consultation with a team of radiologist and support from assistant professors, we successfully removed the head from the viable child."
