BREAKING: SpaceX could launch its own Starlink mobile service in the United States.

• SpaceX President Gwynne Shotwell discussed the potential consumer mobile service with investors during the company’s recent IPO roadshow, as per FT.

• The service could compete directly with Verizon, AT&T, and other carriers.

• The move follows SpaceX’s $17 billion acquisition of 65 MHz of wireless spectrum from EchoStar.

• Starlink already serves 12 million+ users worldwide and operates a constellation of 10,000+ satellites.

• A satellite-powered mobile network could dramatically reduce mobile dead zones, especially in rural and remote areas.

• During natural disasters, hurricanes, wildfires, earthquakes, and other emergencies, satellite connectivity can keep people connected when ground networks fail, helping save lives.

If this happens, it would be another major step toward SpaceX’s mission of providing connectivity everywhere on Earth.

This has not yet been officially confirmed by Elon Musk or SpaceX.
