Wednesday, November 2, 2016

Police in Abuja have teargassed a group of Islamic students protesting the continued detention of the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria otherwise known as Shi'ites, Sheik Ibrahim El-Zakzaky.  The protest was been held in front of the National Assembly Abuja.

The Muslim cleric has been in military detention since December last year after his followers had a clash with the Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kadun state. Over 100 people reportedly lost their lives. More photos after the cut.
