Orlando shooter's father declared his intention to run for president of Afghanistan and hosts talk show in California

Mass shooter Omar Mateen’s father Seddique Mateen recently visited Congress, the State Department and met with political leaders during a trip to Washington, DC. in April, and posted photos on social media posing in front of the State Department and Democratic Foreign Services Committee offices.

Mateen, who is originally from Afghanistan frequently writes open letters to President Obama, has on several occasions thanked the Afghan Taliban on a show he hosts called the Durand Jirga Show on a channel called Payam-e-Afghan, which broadcasts from California.

Mateen has several YouTube, videos where he speaks on a range of political subjects in the Dari language. In one video, he declared his candidacy for the Afghan presidency.

Plus he has other videos with topics like 'Rise Afghan people against Pakistan' and 'Intelligent service and Military of Pakistan real Enemy of the USA'.

Just hours before Sunday's shooting, he uploaded a video on Facebook dressed in Army clothes, pretending to be Afghan's president, he orders the arrest of several political figures who  according to him were 'against our countrymen and against our homeland'.
