Mourinho, who had initially left his lawyers and Chelsea's lawyers to handle the case in the employment tribunal, decided to turn up today to look Carneiro in the eye while she makes her allegations public in the witness stand.
Since he and Dr Carneiro
are both from Portugal, the tribunal heard that academic experts ‘in
Portuguese swearing’ would be called to give evidence.
Yesterday
the tribunal heard Chelsea offered £1.2million to silence Ms Carneiro,
who is set to make ‘scandalous’ claims about working for manager Jose
Mourinho.
But she rejected the money, more than four times her annual salary, and the offer of her ‘dream job’ back.
Dr
Eva Carneiro claims Jose Mourinho was sexist, and the club dismissed
her wrongfully even though she did no wrong, after she rushed onto the
field last season to treat an injured player, an action that angered
then Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho and led him to demote her from first
team duties.
Dr Carneiro is demanding a public apology from Jose Mourinho.
