As part of his Social Responsibility and in line with his resolve to
keep promoting and grassroots football in Nigeria, Dr. Ubah who recently
sponsored the Joseph Yobo Centenary game has once again thrown his
weight behind another burgeoning Nigerian player, Odion Ighalo as he
cements plans for a farewell match in honour of his father, Late Pa Paul
Ighalo.
The match which is to be played at Navy Barracks, Ajegunle and billed
for Sunday, 12th of June, 2016 is tagged "Team Ighalo vs Team Ajegunle".
The Watford striker who lost his father in April thanked Dr. Ubah for
his unflinching support for the game of football in Nigeria. "Dr. Ubah
has always been steadfast in his love and support for our sports and its
development at the grassroots level. I am indeed very grateful to Dr.
Ubah, who has always been a mentor for his benevolence, his support
towards this event means a whole lot to me" Ighalo said. On his reasons
for choosing Ajegunle, Ighalo pointed out that having being brought up
in Ajegunle, he had no other family or people to celebrate with than
those that shaped him and his career.
'Team Ighalo vs Team Ajegunle' which will be graced by lots of Nigerian
internationals including Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi, Olympiacos
striker Brown Ideye and Hapoel Be'er Sheva midfielder John Ogu will
kick-off at 4PM on Sunday. However, the event will start at 12noon with
musical and dance performances as well as other competitions.
