Biafra Day Killing: Gov Obiano didn't induce us - MASSOB

The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has denied reports that it met with Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano, where it received huge sums of money to absolve the governor of any role in the May 30 killing of agitators.
A statement issued by its leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu, said “The attention of MASSOB has been drawn to a destructive rumour going round Anambra State that Governor Obiano had induced us with monetary leverage to compromise the activities of the struggle for the Biafra actualisation. The reformed MASSOB can never be bought or hijacked by political elements; we cannot compromise or sabotage the struggle for emancipation and survival of our people.”
Madu however warned the state government to stop dragging the name of MASSOB or Biafra to the mud.
He insisted that the group never sent anybody to represent MASSOB in any capacity in their dealings with pro-Biafra groups.
“Anybody or group of people who claim to represent or is sent by MASSOB in any capacity in dealings with the Anambra State government is fake, including some members of staff of the state. In as much as MASSOB is willing to partner or work with other Igbo groups, state governments and individuals, it must be for Igbo and Biafra interest, not compromising the ultimate hope of the Ndigbo,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) has said that more Nigerians and groups are identifying with its struggle for the restoration of Biafra.
The IPOB Director of Media and Publicity, Emma Powerful, in a statement he issued in Onitsha, asserted that “not minding the fierce persecution from anti-Biafra forces orchestrated by the Nigerian security forces led by the Nigeria Army, more people had joined the struggle. These include notable individuals and groups and we are happy to receive them into the IPOB family.”
Powerful said that some groups had met in Enugu and Umuahia and agreed to mobilise support for the proposed prayer session for a referendum, noting that IPOB members who were injured during the attack on black Monday by security forces were receiving massive support from Nigerians.
