The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has said that it has uncovered
plots by the Nigerian Army to secretly execute all the Biafran
agitators arrested during Monday’s Biafra anniversary rally in parts
of South East and South South.
IPOB also alleged that the security agencies are planning a secret mass burial for the agitators killed during the rally.
The pro-Biafran group had earlier claimed that no fewer than 50
agitators were killed by the security agents in Onitsha and Asaba,
while 207 others were wounded and 403 arrested.
IPOB in a press statement issued yesterday by its media and publicity
officer, Emma Powerful, called on the United Nations and world leaders
to come to their rescue.
The statement reads in part: “We discovered that the Nigerian Army and
Police decided to kill those they arrested and bury them along with the
dead bodies they carried on the same day.
“IPOB under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu cries out over the
deaths and for the mass burial of Biafrans killed during the remembrance
of Biafra heroes and heroines on Monday, 30th May, 2016”.
The statement said the agitators were unarmed and did nothing to
warrant the brutality unleashed on them by the security agents.
“As IPOB families and Biafrans mourn our dead brethren with heavy
hearts, the Nigerian government and security agents are busy perfecting
strategy to kill unarmed civilians arrested during the events and bury
all with the dead Biafrans in a mass grave.
“Those arrested and taken to the Army Baracks by Army, Navy, and Police
were being tortured to death without charging them to court,” Powerful
stated.
IPOB tackled Gov. Willie Obiano of Anambra State for alleged inaction over the plights of the arrested Biafran agitators.
“The Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano went to the Army
Barack and saw the dead bodies of his brothers and sisters who were
killed during the Remembrance Day and also allowed those alive to be
tortured to death.
“IPOB is worried why Chief Willie Obiano, the chief security officer
of the state became stooge to the Hausa/ Fulani terrorist group,” IPOB
stated.
