The
Anambra State Police command yesterday said neither the Movement for
the Actualisation of the sovereign state of Biafra (MASSOB) nor the
Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has informed it officially of its
intention to celebrate May 30th Biafra anniversary.
The
Police spokesman, Ali Okechukwu said on the other hand said the
hierarchy of the police has not as well sent across any signal to that
effect but denied that crackdown is already on for MASSOB/IPOB members
in Anambra State.
He
said no directive has been given by the Commissioner of Police, Karma
Hosea even though he would still dig out to know the true position.
‘’I
have no information yet but I am not sure it is true, in fact there is
no crack down yet but we would dig it. The MASSOB/IPOB has not given us
information of the celebration and let me not speak further and get back
to you.
But
Leader of MASSOB Comrade Uchenna Madu said the upcoming Biafra Day
anniversary celebration on May 30, 2016 will hold irrespective of
Nigeria Government threat advising other pro-Biafra group to maintain
non-violence principle in commemorating this year’s Biafra Day.
“Biafra revolution is indestructible. Biafra actualisation is a struggle of survival and advancement.
”MASSOB will continue to surge ahead with other genuine self-determined groups for Biafra restoration.
