Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak directly accuse North Korea of murdering Kim Jong Nam

Wednesday, 8 March 2017

For the first time, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak has directly accused North Korea of murdering Kim Jong Nam. This comes amid a deepening diplomatic row over the February killing of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's half-brother at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2.
Najib told state media agency Bernama that "what we are facing now is the result of their action in assassinating their own citizen in Malaysia, on Malaysian soil, using a strictly banned chemical weapon".
North Korea has however repeatedly denied any involvement in Kim Jong Nam's murder. Kim died on February 13 about 20 minutes after two women wiped his face with the highly toxic VX nerve agent, according to Malaysian police.

Sad story! 97 year old, twin sisters meet tragic end

Wednesday, 8 March 2017

Twin sister Jean Haley and Martha Williams, 97, died together after they both fell on the same night at Haley’s home in Barrington, Rhode Island, US. The twins were born in November 1919, on the kitchen table at home in Rhode Island, to a mother who didn’t know she was having twins and for the next 97 years of their lives, they were inseparable.

Haley and Williams, both widowed, met their younger 89-year-old sister for dinner at The Lobster Pot on Friday, March 3. Afterwards, they went back to Haley’s house, where it appeared they both fell before entering the house.

According to the short distance between their bodies when they were found unresponsive in the morning at about 8 a.m., it is believed that Williams fell while getting into her car and as Haley was going to get help, she fell a short distance away.

Williams was found lying still in the driveway while the Haley was still moving when she was found on the garage floor. By the time they were taken to Rhode Island hospital they were both pronounced dead. It was a very cold night (16 degrees) and it is believed they died of hypothermia after being exposed to the cold outside, all through the night.

Haley's son, John told Time that felt an odd sense of relief knowing they were still together. He also revealed that he told the hospital staff to keep their bodies close to each other.

They came into life together and they died together. It was kind of a comforting feeling to know they were still together. That’s the way they came in and that’s the way they went out.”

“They spent almost 10 decades together,” said Haley’s neighbour, Peter May. “They were born on the same day and they died on the same day. It’s a beautiful story of sisterhood.”

Williams’ daughter, Sue, 67, said the twins, whom she calls “the girls,” lived with grace and integrity, and a warm openness about how much they loved the people in their lives. She also revealed that at 97 they were still driving, enjoyed doing things by themselves and lived a full life.

“They made it so none of us feel we left something unsaid. And that is unbelievable, because we all leave things — ‘I wish I had said this, I wish I could do one more hug. I wish. I wish. I wish.’

“I know they expressed their love to everybody who came across them. I’ve had boyfriends from 50 years ago call me in tears, barely able to talk because they loved my mom so much,” she said.

Transgender florist hacked to death in Malaysia as two men stand trial for raping her two years ago

Wednesday, 8 March 2017

Sameera Krishman, 27, a transgender florist was hacked, shot and mutilated in Kuantan, eastern Malaysia. Sameera has been the victim of homophobic attacks since she transitioned. In 2015, she was kidnapped, raped and tortured by two men who were due to appear in court at the same time Sameer met her untimely demise.
Sameer had gone to buy some food on February 23rd, just a day to her 28th birthday, when she was attacked and killed.  According to Human Rights Watch, Malaysia is one of the worst countries for transgender people and the rise of a twisted interpretation of sharia law in Malaysia is believed to be a potential factor in the increasing rate of crime against transgender and gay people. At least 10 transgender women have been killed in a similar fashion since 2007.

When Sameer was attacked in 2015, she was rescued by police after they checked a car that had been involved in a minor accident and found her tied up on the back seat. She was not so lucky this time and by the time the authorities found her, she had been dismembered and left by the side of the road.

Top Republicans & Democrat senators react to Trump's wiretapping allegations against Obama

Wednesday, 8 March 2017

U.S President Donald Trump on Saturday claimed that former President Barack Obama wiretapped his Trump Towers last year during the election period and then directed the Senate committee on Intelligence to investigate the allegations.
Now major Republican and democratic senators have reacted to Trump's allegation, saying they will push ahead with investigation of the claims with House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes saying he believes it's possible former Trump security adviser Gen. Flynn may also have been wire tapped
Devin Nunes said to CNN;
"A lot of the things he says, you guys take literally," ''Maybe Flynn was wiretapped but it raises valid questions'
Senate Intelligence Chairman Richard Burr, who is leading a concurrent investigation into Russia's interference said;
"We're going to go anywhere there is intelligence or facts that send us,"
 "So I'm not going to limit it one way or the other. But we don't have anything today that would send us in that direction, but that's not to say that we might not find something."
Asked if he believed Trump's allegations, Republican John Cornyn said: "I don't know what the basis of his statement is."
Sen. Mark Warner, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee said;
"We'll follow the facts wherever they may lead, but he's not shown us any evidence,"
Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff said: "The President has asked our committee to investigate this,"
 "Mr. President, we accept."
 "It is also a scandal if those allegations prove to be false"
White House Press Secretary, Sean Spicer also talked about the allegations on Tuesday during the White House Briefing, he said; "Nothing has changed,"
"It's not a question of new proof or less proof or whatever, the answer is the same, which is that ... there was a concern about what happened in the 2016 election. The House and Senate Intelligence Committee have the staff and the capabilities and the processes in place to look at this in a way that's objective and that's where it should be done."
The House Intelligence committee has requested the delivery of intelligence documents as regards Russian interference in the U.S elections by March 17

It was noted that Government also dismissed 525 officials at the National Security alleging they were members of NDC, and 206 police recruits for allegedly using forged certificates.
This exercise was extended to the health sector where government canceled clearance given last year by the Mahama administration for the recruitment of 8600 nurses by the Ghana Health Service.
According to Ghana Web, the unprecedented job loss was as a result of the Akufo-Addo government’s vow to cancel all appointments and clearance for employment by the erstwhile Mahama administration described as 'last minute'.

Wednesday, 8 March 2017

The Co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Mrs. Melinda Gates took to her official Facebook page to recount her meeting with a young Nigerian mother of two, whose dream is to one day become a teacher.
LIB recalled that Mrs Gates arrived in Nigeria on January 18th, 2017. She was hosted by Mrs Aisha Buhari at the State House, Abuja, to discuss the challenges facing women and children in Africa.

"When I met Sa’adatu at a primary care clinic in Nigeria earlier this year, she’d just received a contraceptive implant. It was the first time she’d used contraceptives—a decision she made in partnership with her husband.
Sa’adatu has big dreams for herself and her family. She wants to become a teacher, and even though her two children are still small—her youngest is four months, and her oldest is three years—she’s already thinking about what it will take to send them to college. She knows that being able to plan her family will make all of these dreams easier to achieve.
Her story filled me with hope. And it echoes what I hear from mothers all over the world: to give our children the very best shot in life, we need access to contraceptives".
