2 Canadian women busted with cocaine worth $22m in Australia while on worldwide cruise

Thursday, September 1, 2016

Two Canadian women 23-year-old Melina Roberge and 28-year-old Isabelle Lagacé, who were on a dream world wide cruise were on Monday arrested by the police in Australia, according to a release by the Australian authorities.
Authorities say approximately 95 kilograms of cocaine were allegedly found in the suitcases of the two friends and another Canadian man, 63-year-old man, Andre Tamine who was travelling with them when they arrived in Sydney on a cruise ship. All three were arrested in Australia.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the value of the drugs was $30 million Australian dollars, which is about $22 million in U.S. dollars.
The bust came on the 51st day of a 68-day cruise on the Sea Princess, reports the Sydney Morning Herald. The Star states authorities were prepared to search the ship when it arrived in Sydney after a joint investigation which included the Canadian Border Service Agency and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
They were aboard the MS Sea Princess cruise. Tickets for the MS Sea Princess cruise cost around £8,500

They shared photos from exotic locales around the world including Tahiti, Peru, Bermuda, Morocco and more. "Traveling is one thing ... But traveling with an open mind, ready to taste everything, see everything, learn everything and get yourself out of your comfort zone .. Is probably the best therapy and lesson ever," Roberge wrote in one post from the holiday.
The women had spent the past two months cruising around the world and documenting their lavish holiday on their public Instagram accounts. According to Facebook accounts that appear to belong to them, Lagacé was a waitress at a Longueuil bar and Roberge was a manager at a Montreal jewelry store. According to their Instagram accounts, they began their adventure on July 9 in Southampton, England.
Clive Murray from the Australian Border Forces said the bust came after work alongside US and Canadian authorities.
He said:
"These syndicates should be on notice that the Australian Border Force is aware of all of the different ways they attempt to smuggle drugs into our country and we are working with a range of international agencies to stop them."

AFP Assistant Commissioner Crime Operations Shane Connelly said:
"Today’s successful operation has resulted in three arrests and we will not rule out further activity as we continue our investigations. "The AFP is committed to working with its partner agencies to protect the community by stopping these dangerous drugs making their way to Australian communities, and bringing those responsible to justice."

The trio have been charged with importing drugs and are due in court this week and now face life imprisonment if convicted of drug smuggling in Australia, where cocaine prices are among the highest in the world.

It will be a tragedy of monumental proportion if Ibrahim El-Zakzaky goes blind- Shiites group warns FG

Thursday, September 1, 2016

The Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) also known as Shi’ites yesterday released a statement asking the Federal government to arraign their leader, Ibrahim Zakzaky, who has been in their custody since December last year following the clash the group members had with the Nigerian Army in Zaria, Kaduna state. The group in the statement released said should their leader go blind, “it will be a tragedy of monumental proportion".
The statement signed by the group's spokesperson, Ibrahim Musa, reads in part

“We demand that our leader and his wife be released unconditionally without delay. It will be a tragedy of monumental proportions should our leader go blind in detention or suffer further physical disability due to him being denied access to adequate medical attention.
We understand those that sanctioned his detention and those detaining him want to humiliate him and make sure that he goes completely blind before he is eventually released, thereby rendering him powerless the moment he is released from unconstitutional and illegal detention. The health of our leader and the wife continues to deteriorate on a daily basis and those holding him in custody are playing politics with his detention and that of his wife.
We urge the Nigerian people and the international community to intervene in this crude violation of the fundamental rights of our leader.”

Stella Oduah's ex husband asks her to return body of their son to Warri for proper burial

Thursday, September 1, 2016

Former husband of Senator Stella Oduah,  Lt-Col. Satchie Emmanuel Etoromi (rtd.) has prevailed on her to return the body of their son,  Maxwell Chinedu Toritseju Etoromi, for proper burial in Warri,  Delta State.‎ Maxwell, the 28 year old son of the former Minister of Aviation died at a Turkish Hospital in Abuja from brain hemorrhage.
The ex husband of the former Minister spoke with journalists in Warri, Delta state yesterday, shortly after sending a powerful delegation to his royal majesty, Igwe D. O. Oduah, the Igwe of Akili Ozizor, Ogbaru in Anambra State, to express his sadness over the death of his son and how he was treated by the Senator.

In a letter to the royal father titled, “Appeal To Intercede to Ensure Senator Stella Adaeze Oduah Brings My Son,  Maxwell Chinedu Obiechina Wereyesigha Toritseju Etoromi To MeIn Warri For Burial,” the bereaved father said his estranged wife had not deemed it fit to inform him of the demise of their son and that he read the sad news on the pages of newspapers.
“His Royal Highness Igwe Oduah 1 betrothed Stella Oduah to me on 18th November 1984 in Akili Ozizor. We married on the 16th of December 1984 in His Highness`s Palace in Akili Ozizor. After the payment of dowry and exchange of gifts, we were taken to Nde-Mili where we performed the final rites. I am surprised to see in the internet stories that my son Maxwell Omabuwa Temisanre Obiechina Wereyesigha Toritseju Chinedu Etoromi who Stella delivered for us on 14th March 1988 at 05.00 hour in St Mary`s Hospital Ugboroke Warri is dead”, the bereaved father said in the letter.

He alleged that up till now, his enstranged wife had not contacted him on the death of their son only for her to commence preparation to bury him last Friday in her home town.

“Up till now Stella has not told me my son died in her custody. There is rumour that my son will be buried in Akili Ozizor. That is not acceptable at all. My son must be brought to me in Warri for internment”, he lamented.
In the letter which was copied to  Most Reverend Valerian Okeke, The Arch-Bishop of Onitsha, and the Parish Priest, Father, Donald Uzoh of Sacred Heart Parish, the bereaved father insisted that his late son must be returned for proper burial in his father’s place.

Chief Etoromi explained to the monarch that the stories needed not be told now,  but his grief about his son's death was too much to bear, hence he is reacting this way.

Chris Brown accuser was stripped of beauty queen crown for lying

Wednesday, August 31, 2016

The woman who got Chris Brown arrested yesterday got stripped of her beauty pageant crown earlier this year. TMZ reports below...
Baylee Curran, the woman claiming Chris pulled a gun on her, was crowned Miss California Regional 2016, but 2 months later pageant officials were fed up with her and dethroned her. She was stripped in part because of nude photos that surfaced, and pageant officials say she lied and said it wasn't her.
An official tells TMZ, shortly after she won the title someone sent nude photos to the pageant director, who confronted Baylee, saying, "This is not what the pageant stands for." We're told Baylee insisted it was not her in the photos.

The director told her she'd give her another chance, but we're told Baylee repeatedly screwed up and deceived them. She would fail to show for community functions ... while photographers were tagging photos of her frolicking on a boat. She was also MIA for events ... choosing various photo shoots instead.

The director had enough 2 months into her reign, and told Baylee she was stripping her of her crown, but Baylee shot back, "You're the director. You can make or bend the rules. I'm keeping the crown and we can move on."

She still hasn't returned the crown.

Brazil's first female President Dilma Rousseff impeached; Senate votes 61 to 20 to convict her of breaking budget laws

Wednesday, August 31, 2016

Brazil's suspended President Dilma Rousseff was impeached today Wednesday August 31 following a 61-20 vote by the country’s senate.
Senators broke into protest, cheers and applause after the electronic voting, which went on for hours, was announced. Pro-impeachment senators burst into a rendering of the national anthem, some waving Brazilian flags, while allies of Rousseff stood stony face.

"I will not associate my name to this infamy," read a sign held up by one senator.
68-year-old Rousseff, the country's first female president, will be removed from office and replaced by Vice President Michel Temer, 75. He will be sworn in on Wednesday to serve out her term which extends through 2018.
The impeachment comes two days after Rousseff staged an impassioned defense of her actions on Monday and insisted she was innocent of any wrongdoing in an lengthy speech before the senate. Lawmakers had charged that she breached fiscal rules in an attempt to cover up the nation’s budget woes.
"I know I will be judged, but my conscience is clear. I did not commit a crime," Rousseff, told senators on Monday. "I can’t help but taste the bitterness of injustice."
Rousseff described the impeachment process, which has been going on for about a year, amounted to an illegal coup.  She said the move was aimed at protecting the interests of the country's economic elite and rolling back social programs that lifted millions of Brazilians from poverty during the last decade.
Recalling how she was tortured and imprisoned in the 1970s for belonging to a leftist guerrilla group, Rousseff urged senators to "vote against impeachment, vote for democracy. Do not accept a coup.
Her opponents, however, have hailed the chance to turn the page on a drawn-out political crisis, the country's worst recession and a sweeping corruption scandal at state oil company Petrobras.
About 50 leftist demonstrators gathered outside the presidential palace to show their support.
"We are protesting against the coup and fighting for democracy," said 61-year-old farmer Orlando Ribeiro.
In the center of the capital, extra security and the closing of avenues near the Senate caused massive traffic jams. Police said they were preparing for large protests later in the day.

Lawyers presenting closing arguments could not hold back their emotions as the clock wound down on a crisis that has paralyzed Brazilian politics for months. A lead lawyer for the case against Rousseff, Senator Janaina Paschoal, wept as she asked forgiveness for causing the president "suffering," but insisted it was the right thing to do.
"The Brazilian people must be aware that nothing illegal and illegitimate is being done here," she said.
Rousseff's counsel, veteran lawyer Jose Eduardo Cardozo, retorted that the charges were trumped up to punish the president's support for a huge corruption investigation that has snared many of Brazil's elite.
"This is a farce," he said in a speech during which his voice alternated between shouts and near whispers. We should ask her forgiveness if she is convicted," he added. "History will treat her fairly. History will absolve Dilma Rousseff if you convict her."
Cardozo said shhe would appeal the impeachment through the Supreme Court. Rousseff is the first Brazilian leader to be dismissed from office since 1992, when Fernando Collor de Mello resigned before a final vote in his impeachment trial for corruption.

Wednesday, August 31, 2016

Kourtney Kardashian is on the cover of the October issue of Cosmopolitan Mag out on newsstands Sept. 6th. In the exclusive interview, the reality TV star and mother of three opened up about why she doesn't let her kids watch her show, Kim, Taylor Swift, and her relationship with Scott Disick.

"It's her husband, and he's family. The truth is the truth, so why not let it be known?"

On whether her children watch KUWTK:
"They've seen some of it, but no. I was in the shower, he [Mason] woke up, and it happened to be on. He was like, 'Who is Blac Chyna? And Kiki [Kim] showed Larsa [Pippen] her vagina!' I was like, this is why they don't watch the show. Some of the content is just not appropriate
On her relationship with Scott Disick:
"…the idea of having my family together is amazing, but it's not the way things ended up. They may end up there. I'm not sure. To me, it's in God's hands. If it's meant to be, then things will line up … We definitely tried for a long time. But relationships are exhausting! Being able to focus on the kids and me right now is good. We say to each other all the time, 'I'm the coolest ex-girlfriend/baby mama you could ever ask for!'"

"That's what I don't know. We're so not there yet."
On future children: "I would have more. I could see myself with six kids. I just don't know what's in God's plan.

Saudi Arabian court sentences a man to 10 years in jail, £4k fine and 2,000 lashes for tweeting that he was an atheist

Wednesday, August 31, 2016

In Saudi Arabia there's a law that places atheists and atheistic beliefs as 'terrorism', hence a man who tweeted that he was an atheist has been fined £4,000 and sentenced to 10 years in jail with 2000 lashes of the cane by a high court in Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia's Islamic police found over 600 tweets by the 28 year old man denying the existence of God, ridiculing Koranic verses, accusing all prophets of lies and saying their teaching fueled hostilities, and after the Islamic court gave him all this punishments the man has refused to 'repent' saying he only aired his beliefs and he still stands by them.
In 2014 the late King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia issued royal decrees aimed at clamping down on all forms of political dissent and protests that could “harm public order”.
One of the articles of the decrees defined terrorism as “calling for atheist thought in any form, or calling into question the fundamentals of the Islamic religion on which this country is based”.
Joe Stork, deputy Middle East and North Africa director of Human Rights Watch, said  “Saudi authorities have never tolerated criticism of their policies, but these recent laws and regulations turn almost any critical expression or independent association into crimes of terrorism.”
